Can't lie, this is one of guilty pleasures. Much like the 1970's, it's the perfect mix of campy, violent, sexist, and liberating. I remember watching this movie non-stop when I was 9 or 10, and to this day if I comes on, I have to watch the whole thing. It also has this weird foundation built on the Greek story "Anabsis"(written in 370 b.c.), and it finds a way to layer in all these strange comic book graphic transitions too. Fucking dope.

Anyways, the Warriors takes place in an exaggerated version of New York in the 70's. The whole city is essentially a warzone, and each neighborhood divided up and governed by different gangs. But each one of the gangs has these wacky-ass outfits & rules.

 

Oh so you need an example? I thought you'd never ask...

 

Gang: "The Baseball Furies"

Location: Upper West Side Manhattan

Uniform: Pinstripes, Black hair, & Face Paint

Rules: No talking, just bats. 

Warlord/Leader: Thurman, yellow face/black eye

Dude, the amount of detail & random creativity stuffed into this movie makes you feel the strange love that kind of took over when they were filming. I would talk about the plot, but I already described it best. It's essentially some classic Greek gang shit. If you don't like that... you're tweaking. Also, THE SOUNDTRACK IS TOP 2, AND ITS NOT 2.
